It was a historic day for Turkish volleyball in the CEV Champions League. Fenerbahçe eliminated its tough rival Imoco and made it to the semi-finals. The rival of the yellow-dark blue team became the Turkish representative. For the first time in the history of the championship, 3 Turkish teams made their name to the semi-finals.

Fenerbahce was the guest of Italy's Carraro Imoco Volley team in the quarter finals of the CEV Champions League . Having won the first match 3-0, the yellow-dark blue team made it into the semi-finals when they made the situation 2-0 in the sets.

Our representative, who took a 2-0 lead against Imoco Volley, became the third Turkish team in the last 4! The Yellow-Navy Blues won the first match in Istanbul 3-0.


FENERBAHÇE'S COMPETITOR VAKIFBANK :

Vero Volley Milano hosted our representative VakıfBank in the 2023 CEV Champions League Quarter Finals rematch . Having won the match played at Allianz Cloud MILANO with sets of 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 11-15, VakıfBank Sports Club advanced to the Semi-Finals of the 2023 CEV Champions League. Egonu scored 36 points in VakıfBank and became the MVP of the match. Kara Bajema had 19 points.


TURKISH TEAM FINISHED IN THE FINAL :

After Fenerbahçe eliminated Imoco, the semi-final match was made as VakıfBank - Fenerbahçe Opet . A Turkish team will undoubtedly compete in the CEV Champions League final in this scenario.

Eczacıbaşı Dynavit faced Polish team Developres Rzeszow in the quarter finals of the CEV Champions League . Eczacıbaşı Dynavit defeated his opponent Developres Rzeszow 3-1 away with set scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-16 and 28-26 in the first match.

Our representative guaranteed to advance to the semi-finals after he made the situation 2-2 in the sets against his opponent in the return match played at home. In the first match, our representative beat his opponent 3-2 in his own home, which he had beaten 3-1.

EBRAR STARTED WITH 16 NUMBERS :

Ebrar Karakurt, our national setter cross, who sweated Igor Gorgonzola Novara jersey, was the top scorer of the game with 16 points; Kenia Carcaces scored 13 points, Anna Danesi 8 points and Caterina Bosetti 8 points. Krystal Rivers finished the game with 14 points for Allianz MTV Stuttgart.


THE DREAM OF TURKISH FINAL IN EUROPE :

If Eczacıbaşı Dynavit eliminates Italian team Novara in the semi-finals, an event that will go down in Turkish volleyball history will take place. Accordingly, for the first time in the CEV Champions League, 2 Turkish teams will compete for the championship in the final.


THERE ARE NO SEMI-FINALS WITH 3 TURKISH TEAMS IN HISTORY :

In 2011, VakıfBank Güneş Sigorta became the champion, while Fenerbahçe came in third. Two years later, VakıfBank became the champion, while Galatasaray finished fourth. In 2014, while Vakıfbank and Eczacıbaşı remained in the last four, Dinamo Kazan became the champion. Vakıfbank won the silver medal, while Eczacıbaşı placed fourth. A year later, Eczacıbaşı became the champion and VakıfBank came in third. In 2016, VakıfBank finished second and Fenerbahçe third. While VakıfBank won the championship consecutively in 2017 and 2018, Eczacıbaşı placed third in 2017 and Galatasaray fourth in 2018. In 2019, Vakıfbank and Fenerbahçe shared the third place, while last year VakıfBank reached the championship and Fenerbahçe became the third.
