BARGAIN A MINIMUM WAGE RISE :

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission held its first meeting at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to determine the new minimum wage, which will be effective as of July. The meeting was attended by the General Manager of Labor Sadettin Akyil representing the Ministry, the Turkish Haber-İs Union President Veli Solak representing the Turkish-Is delegation representing the workers' side, and Akansel Koc, the Secretary General of the Turkish Employers' Union Confederation (TİSK) representing the employers' side. The meeting lasted approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

FIRST EXPLANATION FROM THE WORKERS AFTER THE MEETING :

The representative of the Turk-ş delegation, Veli Solak, made a statement following the meeting in which he indicated that they wanted the minimum wage discussions to end before the holiday and that their demand was to "end the 'Century of Turkey' in a way that befits the 'Century of Turkey'." We want it to be updated according to the cost of living," he said.

Solak answered the question of whether the figure was spoken at the meeting, "Official documents were requested. We will make a statement in the coming days, in the coming hours."

WHAT ARE THE RISE EXPECTATIONS?

So how much will the interim increase in the minimum wage be, what are the expectations? Sworn-in Certified Public Accountant and Economist Muhammet Bayram explained on CNN Turk. He used the following expressions in his holiday speech.

There is a 45 percent increase given to public workers. If we look from this window, we foresee that the minimum wage will be shaped at the level of 11,500 and 12,300. Percentage If there is an increase of 40, it will be 11 thousand 910, if it is 45 percent, it will be 12 thousand 345.

Prior to the critical meeting, the last day, the TİSK and the government made the minimum wage statement one after the other. TİSK President Burak Akkol and Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz gave important information about the minimum wage negotiations. "

WHAT DO EMPLOYERS EXPECT?

Before the critical meeting, TİSK President Akkol met with the Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan yesterday. Akkol noted that they attach importance to social dialogue in the process of updating the minimum wage and are in consultation with Türk-İş. Expressing that they wish for a common agreement on the minimum wage, Akkol said, "We want this process to be completed before the feast."

Akkol also said, "We are in the state of the Republic of Turkey, in order to raise the minimum wage to the level of 500 dollars, which was brought to the agenda by the former Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin. No minimum wage or other wages are determined in any other currency. 

The commission also takes into account exchange rates, inflation, purchasing power, employment, the burden on employers, and pressure on exports. More than a hundred parameters will be evaluated. Inflation is in a downtrend. Despite this, as Turkish employers, we agree on an interim increase. We do not have an opinion such as 'no interim period, waiting for the end of the year'. We want to determine an amount that will not disrupt employment, is sustainable but balanced, and takes into account the expectations of both the employee and the employer.”
